Appellate Law, Contract Law & Municipal Law Attorney

Serving clients in Gainesville and surrounding areas with
passion & expertise.

Appellate Law

Regardless of the legal issue you are involved in – family law, criminal law, contract law – if you are dissatisfied with the judgment of the court, contact Mrs. Hoehn today to see if your case has any merit on appeal.  Presenting a successful case on appeal is, many times, a matter of effectively researching the law and presenting a persuasive argument.  Not every lawyer has the desire or ability to take your case from the trial court to the appellate court.  Mrs. Hoehn has been counsel of record in numerous appellate cases ranging from divorce cases to construction cases to constitutional law cases and has successfully achieved reversals of property division judgments as well as obtaining writs of prohibition against state agencies.

Presenting and arguing an appeal is an art form requiring extensive knowledge of the law as well as the ability to effectively relay the issue on appeal in such a manner that it screams for the appellate court’s attention.  As one astute lawyer once observed:

The facts of a case are like fine wine.  They start out as grapes, and it’s up to you to stomp the heck out of them until they turn into something satisfying and compelling.  Susan Fox, Esq., The Record (Journal of the Appellate Practice Section), Vol. XVI, No. 4, Summer 2007, at page 3.

Don’t leave your future to chance as a result of an unfair judgment or ruling.  Contact Mrs. Hoehn today.  Time is of the essence as there are specific time limits to initiate an appeal.

Contract Law
Even if you are not currently involved in litigation, if you are interested in avoiding potential litigation, contact Mrs. Hoehn to have her review your contracts.  Mrs. Hoehn's experience in representing governmental agencies, parties to construction projects, and parties in all types of family, probate and guardianship matters, and litigating similar contracts, has provided her with keen insight into what terms are likely to be troublesome and what terms are essential to protecting your rights.  Whether the contract is for employment, construction, or for the purchase of new equipment, if you don't address the terms of the contract before signing and there is a breach of the contract in the future, you could be waiving significant rights.  You could further be forced to litigate the case in another state or pay liquidated damages.  Protect yourself, your family and your business by contacting Mrs. Hoehn today to review your next contract.  The other side likely has their lawyer reviewing, and most likely drafting the contract, why aren't you having your lawyer review the contract and, acccordingly, protecting YOUR rights?

Municipal Law
Mrs. Hoehn has been counsel for various municipalities for over twenty (20) years.  In such capacity, Mrs. Hoehn has experience in resolving land use and zoning disputes; addressing personnel issues; negotiating government contracts; litigating construction issues; reviewing proposed charter amendments for compliance with the law; foreclosing on code enforcement liens; and educating government employees and elected officials regarding their duties and responsibilities under the Government in the Sunshine Law.

Serving as counsel for a governmental entity requires a comprehensive knowledge of state and federal law in a multitude of areas and the ability to clearly articulate the requirements of the law.  With experience advising boards and commissions, as well as representing their interests in court, Mrs. Hoehn is extensively familiar with the issues affecting local government and how to resolve such issues in the best interests of the community.

Experienced and Approachable
Prior to opening her own law firm, attorney Mrs. Hoehn spent several years working as a staff attorney for judges in the 7th Judicial Circuit Court, in Volusia County, Florida.  This invaluable experience gave Mrs. Hoehn an insider’s view of how the court system works and how judges think and rule in their cases.  Subsequent to this public service, Mrs. Hoehn moved to private practice focusing on appellate and municipal law.
